The name Sameer MD has suddenly become widely discussed in Karnataka. His videos questioning the Dharmasthala Saujanya murder case and allegations of hidden truths have created a storm on social media. With lakhs of people watching his content, he has become both a popular figure and a controversial one. But who is Sameer MD? What is his background? And why has he become the target of police action?
Sameer MD is a Kannada YouTuber who runs two channels – “Doota” and “Sameer MD.” Though he has uploaded only around 21 videos on his main channel, some of them have gone viral, receiving millions of views. His video titled “Who are the serial killers of Dharmasthala” alone has crossed 7 million views.
Sameer’s fame grew because of his unique style of analysis and use of AI technology in videos. His ability to narrate controversial issues in an engaging manner quickly attracted attention, particularly from young viewers across Karnataka.
The Dharmasthala Controversy
A turning point came when Sameer released a video about the mysterious murder of Saujanya in Dharmasthala. The video sparked outrage, support, and suspicion all at once. Many social media users backed him, appreciating his boldness in raising questions. However, the Dharmasthala Police viewed it as spreading misinformation.
A case has now been registered against Sameer at the Dharmasthala Police Station for allegedly making false claims. Sub-Inspector Anand even traveled to Bengaluru in search of him, but he was not found at his Bannerghatta residence. Sameer has now got anticipatory bail in the Dakshina Kannada District Court.
Background: From Ballari to Bengaluru
Sameer MD hails from Kaul Bazaar in Ballari. His mother is from Ballari, while his father is from Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh. Reports suggest that Sameer’s father has been absent from his life, and he grew up with his mother and elder sister.
He studied in a private school in Ballari until 8th standard before moving to Bengaluru for higher education. He later completed a BCA degree and slowly entered the world of content creation. Currently, Sameer lives in Hullalli near Bannerghatta, Bengaluru, where he makes videos from home.

Bellary Connection and Police Records
Although Sameer’s roots are in Ballari, he reportedly has no strong social or family ties left in the city. His old house in Kaul Bazaar remains uninhabited. Police in Ballari confirmed that he does not run any organization or maintain close circles there.
Interestingly, when Sameer first released the Dharmasthala video, a separate case (No. 51/2025) was registered against him at the Kaul Bazaar Police Station in Ballari. However, authorities could not find him in the city, indicating he had already shifted base to Bengaluru.
Growing Scrutiny and Financial Questions
Sameer’s increasing influence has also drawn criticism. He has appeared alongside controversial figures like Mahesh Shetty Thimmarodi and Girish Mattannavar, further deepening suspicions. Right-wing groups have also targeted him for his content.
In addition, questions have been raised about his source of income. Several people have demanded a probe by police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into his financial background. Some even filed complaints claiming his videos deliberately fuel tension in sensitive cases.
Where Does Sameer Stand Now?
At present, Sameer finds himself caught in legal trouble. The Dharmasthala police have registered a case, and he has been granted anticipatory bail in the Dakshina Kannada District Court.
While lakhs of people continue to watch and share his videos, his future as a YouTuber now depends on the outcome of these investigations.
Whether Sameer is simply a content creator using controversy for fame or a larger force backing him remains unclear. What is certain is that his journey from Ballari to YouTube stardom has now landed him at the center of a heated debate in Karnataka.
