RCB announces ₹25 lakh aid for families of stampede victims and unveil long-term fan-focused initiative ‘RCB Cares’ to ensure safety, support, and a living tribute to their 12th Man Army.
On Monday, September 1, defending IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) announced the launch of their new fan-focused initiative, ‘RCB Cares’, aimed at providing meaningful support and ensuring safety for their loyal 12th Man Army. The initiative comes in the wake of the tragic stampede during the victory parade on June 4 that claimed eleven lives.

In a significant move, RCB confirmed that each family of the victims would receive ₹25 lakh as financial aid, marking the first step under the initiative. But ‘RCB Cares’ extends beyond immediate relief, promising both short-term support and long-term systemic reforms.
The programme highlights six key commitments: offering fast and transparent support to families affected, working with stadium authorities to improve crowd safety protocols, starting social development programs to empower local communities, investing in independent crowd safety research through fan safety audits, building futures through sport with in-stadia jobs, and creating a permanent living tribute in Bengaluru to honour the victims.

RCB emphasized that this initiative reflects their long-term promise to fans. “RCB Cares is our long-term commitment to support, empower, and elevate our 12th Man Army through meaningful action. This is our promise to every fan who has stood by RCB through every high, every heartbreak,” the franchise posted on social media.
By combining financial assistance, structural reforms, and lasting memorials, RCB is seeking to transform a tragedy into a foundation for safer and more meaningful fan engagement in the years ahead.
