Amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, a resident of Basirhat named Ziad Ali Dafadar has accused a man of being a Bangladeshi and posing as his son using fake ID cards.
According to Ziad, the accused is a Bangladeshi national named Mahabur Dafadar, who fraudulently obtained a voter ID by listing himself as the son. He demanded the immediate deportation of the accused to Bangladesh.
Ziad Ali Dafadar has approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the local BJP unit and categorically denied being the ‘father’ of Mahabur Dafadar.

While speaking to IANS, he saod, “After coming here and meeting my wife, he used my voter card and Aadhaar card to falsely show me as his father and make a voter ID card for himself. I do not want to keep that boy. Let him return to Bangladesh. Therefore, I have approached the administration again before the SIR process is completed.”
The local BJP unit has lashed out at the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government for harbouring Bangladeshis and helping them obtain Indian documents.
Meanwhile, Basirhat district BJP president Sukalyan Vaidya claimed that Ziad Ali Dafadar repeatedly complained against Mahabur Dafadar to the BLO in 2022 and 2024 and demanded removal of the accused’s name from the electoral rolls.
