The family entertainer Yajamana, starring Karnataka Ratna Dr. Vishnuvardhan, is set to re-release across Karnataka on November 7, marking 25 years since its original release in 2000. The film was produced by Mehrunnisa Rehman and directed by R. Sheshadri and Radha Bharathi. The re-release is being carried out by Muniswamy S.D., with the film updated using modern technology.
A special silver jubilee celebration was organized at the Kalavidara Sangha in Bengaluru, where producers, cast members, and technicians from the original team participated and shared memories from the film.
Producer Rehman stated that Dr. Vishnuvardhan and K.V. Nagesh Kumar were the key reasons the film was made. He recalled the film’s commercial success, noting that it celebrated 100 days in more than 130 centres, completed 25 weeks in over 40 theatres, and ran for one year in four centres. The film collected ₹35 crore at the time, setting a record. The cast includes Vishnuvardhan, Prema, Shashikumar, Abhijith, Ramesh Bhat, and Tennis Krishna. Rehman expressed hope that the re-release would achieve even greater success.
For the re-release, Yajamana has been upgraded through DI for 4K digital projection, making it suitable for modern theatres equipped with current technology. The original mono sound has been carefully converted to 5.1 and 7.1 digital audio, including updates to the songs. Sound enhancements were carried out by skilled technicians. Music director Rajesh Ramnath said that the process required significant time and financial investment, and Muniswamy ensured no compromise in quality.
Muniswamy mentioned that he is a longtime admirer of Dr. Vishnuvardhan, and this re-release is driven by that admiration. He confirmed that the film would release in more than 150 centres on November 7 and urged audiences to watch the film in theatres.
Actors Shashikumar, Abhijith, Ramesh Bhat, Tennis Krishna, and dialogue writer Ravi Srivatsa shared their memories of working on the film. K.V. Nagesh Kumar, K. Manju, and Shreyas Manju attended as chief guests and conveyed their wishes.
