The film ‘666 Operation Dream Theater’, directed by Hemanth M Rao, is being shot using costume design from the 1970s along with lenses and camera technology used during that period.
The team has completed two phases of shooting using Vintage Lomos cameras, which were earlier featured in several Dr. Rajkumar films during the 1970–1980 era. For lens selection, the crew conducted searches in Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Cinematographer Advait Gurumurthy said that the crew planned from the beginning to create visuals similar to Dr. Rajkumar’s Bond films Operation Diamond Rocket and Jedara Bale. To achieve this, the team avoided dependency on complete post-production work and instead used old-style tungsten lights and vintage lenses during filming.
A total of 16 lens sets were tested and graded before selecting Vintage Lomo anamorphic and Lomo spherical lenses. These lenses were chosen for their optical characteristics suited to the film’s intended style.
Dhananjay plays the lead role in the film. It is produced by Dr. Vaishakh J Gowda under the Vaishakh J Films banner. Charan Raj is the music director, Advait Gurumurthy is the cinematographer and Vishwas Kashyap has joined as the production designer.
Dr. Shivarajkumar appears in an important role in ‘666 Operation Dream Theater’. The film is being produced on a high budget and is planned for a simultaneous release in Kannada and Telugu.
