The trailer of “Rippan Swaamy”, starring Vijay Raghavendra and directed by Kishore Moodbidri, has been released. Known previously for his lover-boy and investigator roles, Vijay Raghavendra appears in a completely different look this time. The trailer hints at questions such as “Whose blood does Swami spill?” and “What is the life of forest dwellers like?” The answers are expected in the film, which is set to release on August 29. The trailer launch event saw the participation of the entire film team.
Vijay Raghavendra said it was a satisfying day for the whole team. He revealed that director Kishore Moodbidri had waited years to make the film with him. Initially, Raghavendra had suggested giving the story to someone else, but Kishore insisted he was the right fit for the role. Referring back to conversations during Malgudi Days, the actor said he had expressed interest in playing characters different from his usual roles. He added that he always wanted to ensure his performances leave a mark, and believes the same will be true in this film.
Actress Ashwini Chandrashekhar, who plays a character named Mangala, said every role in the film is important. She explained that her role focuses on the emotions and struggles faced by women in today’s society, making the film both content-driven and family-oriented.
Co-producer Sunil stated that their main intention was to present a film with strong content, which aligned perfectly when Kishore narrated the story.
Senior actor Chinne Gowda remarked that watching the trailer reminded him of Vijay Raghavendra’s early performances in Chinnari Mutha and Kotreshi Kanasu. He praised his growth as an artist and said that true actors must immerse themselves fully in a role, which Raghavendra has achieved in Rippan Swaamy.
Director Kishore Moodbidri shared that the idea originated during the time of Malgudi Days, and later developed into the present story. He emphasized that the film should speak for itself, and credited the producers and team members for making Rippan Swami possible.
The film is produced under the Panchanana Films banner, marking their debut venture, with support from like-minded collaborators. It has been shot in Koppa, Kalasa, and Balehonnur. The technical crew includes Samuel Abhi (music, from Malayalam cinema), Ranganath C.M. (cinematography), and Shashank Narayan (editing).
