A teacher has been apprehended on grave allegations of sexually assaulting two underage students, at a government inter-college in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The accused has been identified as 49-year-old Yunus Ansari who resides in Bijnor of Uttar Pradesh. On 30th November, the parents of a minor boy and girl enrolled at the institution lodged a report at police station.
Ansari forced the victims into sexual acts by threatening to fail them in their examinations, based on the allegations. The parents have been deeply disturbed by this revelation. The Chamoli police acted promptly, nabbing the perpetrator within 12 hours in the Jalalabad region of Bijnor.
A case has been filed against him under sections 5(c)/6, 9/10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as sections 74 and 78 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Afterward, Ansari was presented before the Chamoli District and Sessions Judge. The court has placed him in judicial custody for a duration of 14 days. The Superintendent of Police has declared a reward of ₹2,500 for the team responsible for capturing the suspect.
