Sandalwood actress and former MP Ramya has become the target of online abuse after voicing support for Renukaswamy in connection with actor Darshan’s ongoing legal battle. The cyber wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested two individuals and detained a third for sending obscene and abusive messages to the actress on social media.
Ramya had recently expressed hope that Renukaswamy’s family would receive justice while Darshan’s bail plea was under review in the Supreme Court. Her comments drew sharp backlash from alleged Darshan fans, with several making vulgar and derogatory remarks on her social media posts.
CCB officers track IP addresses of the accused
Taking serious note of the harassment, Ramya filed a formal complaint with the cyber police, listing 43 offensive accounts. Acting swiftly, CCB officers tracked the IP addresses of the accused and arrested two men — one from Bellary and another from Chitradurga. A third suspect has been detained and is currently being interrogated.
Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway and more arrests may follow as digital evidence is being examined. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing online abuse, particularly targeting public figures.
The incident highlights growing concerns over online harassment and the need for stricter cybercrime enforcement.
