The trailer of Jai, a film directed by Bigg Boss fame Rupesh Shetty who also plays the lead role, has been released. The visuals suggest it will be a full-on entertainer. The trailer was launched by anchor Anushree, while Upendra Shetty, Madhu Rao, Raj Deepak Shetty, and entrepreneur Prakash Kumkal inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp before extending wishes to the Jai team. Dance performances and a Huli Kunita act drew attention during the launch event.
BJP leader Ashwath Narayan also attended the event and welcomed Rupesh Shetty with a bouquet. He stated that the Jai trailer is being launched today and that the film will release across the country, adding that everyone is eagerly waiting to watch it.
Speaking at the event, director and actor Rupesh Shetty expressed happiness, mentioning that the project initially began as a small Tulu film but later released overseas and received a good response. He said that the film, once considered a Tulu project, has now become both a Kannada and Tulu film. He credited Suniel Shetty for this support, explaining that despite not knowing them initially, Suniel Shetty agreed to back the film and stood by them even during promotions instead of leaving after completion. Rupesh Shetty acknowledged Suniel Shetty’s support for the movie’s release.
Suniel Shetty said he has deep ties to Karnataka, noting that he frequently visits Bengaluru as his sister and relatives live there. He shared memories connected to the city and mentioned his close bond with Dr Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar. He also said he shares a good relationship with Kichcha Sudeepa. While Mumbai and Maharashtra have been his workplace, his birthplace is Mulki in Karnataka, he said, encouraging everyone to watch Jai.
At the event, Anushree remarked that Shettys are known for their strength in art and have rooted themselves strongly. She noted that Rupesh Shetty, who started as an RJ, later became a television host and supporting actor, has now emerged as a lead actor creating a new sensation in the film industry. She added that such new heroes deserve applause and mentioned that Rupesh Shetty is referred to as the “Walking Star” in Tulu Nadu.
Actor Raj Deepak Shetty said that although Rupesh Shetty may be younger in age, his ideas are strong and inspiring. He shared that he learned several meaningful things—relevant to both reel and real life—from him. Usually, villains are sidelined after filming, but Rupesh Shetty kept him involved throughout. He added that he immediately agreed to join the film when Suniel Shetty also came on board, and after hearing the story, he was impressed.
Music director Gurukiran expressed happiness about Suniel Shetty attending the event, saying that Suniel Shetty encouraged his entry into the film industry even before he became part of cinema, particularly through music. He said that he can never forget that contribution. Gurukiran mentioned that Rupesh Shetty has been hitting “sixes” with his work and hopes the film team sees success. He also revealed that he has sung a song in the movie and extended his best wishes to the team.
