An SUV owned by the son of former Congress minister H M Revanna was found to be involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a scooter rider on the outskirts of Bengaluru recently.
On Thursday, the scooter rider, Rajesh B G, 23, a resident of Belagumba village in Magadi, died on the spot on the road connecting Magadi and Gudemaranahalli in the Bengaluru South district, while the driver allegedly fled the scene of the accident.
According to a complaint filed with the Kudur police station by the brother-in-law of the accident victim, he was informed by a local resident of Gudemaranahalli about the accident at around 11 pm on Thursday. But when he rushed to the spot, he found his brother-in-law had already succumbed to injuries.
According to the police complaint, Rajesh B G used to go every day to work at a factory in Dabaspet on his scooter and would return at night. The complainant referred to local eyewitnesses and claimed that the car of the former minister’s son hit the scooter of Rajesh B G head-on while trying to overtake two motorcycles.
“It is a case of hit and run. The identity of the person driving the car has to be ascertained,” R Srinivas Gowda, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru South district, said.
H M Revanna has claimed that the car was not being driven by his son but by a driver at the time of the accident.
