The friendship anthem for the debut film of director and producer Chandan Kumar, Yee Jeeva Ninagaagi, is sung by Kichcha Sudeepa, who also appears on screen for the song.
Kichcha Sudeepa’s strong bond with his large group of friends—especially after his involvement in the Celebrity Cricket League—was a driving factor in his decision to be part of Flirt, a Kannada film. Initially hesitant to sing, Sudeepa didn’t want the melody to be compromised. He took his time, eventually agreeing after months of consideration. He recorded the song in just three days and completed the shoot in a single hour.
Interestingly, two of Sudeepa’s long-time friends—actor and multi-talented performer Arun Sagar, and cricketer JK Anil Kumar—officially released the song. Sudeepa also shared a video message wishing Chandan Kumar and his team good luck.
Sudeepa’s friends from the CCL also joined the stage at the song launch event, celebrating friendship with the beloved actor and respected human being.
Chandan Kumar: A Man of Many Roles
Handsome hunk Chandan Kumar—an engineering distinction holder, small and big screen actor, and husband of actress Kavitha Gowda—takes on multiple roles in Flirt: actor, director, and producer. Kavitha Gowda has also co-produced the film under the Everest Pictures banner. Flirt is subtitled A Pure Dove Story, and according to Chandan, it is a rom-com with many emotional layers.
Chandan explains that while the film falls under romantic comedy, it explores themes like love, friendship, and deep emotional connection. “Flirting doesn’t just mean teasing,” he said. “Even deep love can be considered flirting.” He also revealed that his character has a psycho angle, and the film maintains a brisk pace without dull moments.
Reportedly, Chandan Kumar has 99 girlfriends in the film, along with two leading ladies: Nimika Ratnakar and Akshata Bopanna. Girish Shivanna, his best friend, also features in the friendship song.
Celebrating the Team Behind Flirt
Chandan praised veteran cinematographer HC Venu for shooting an impressive 436 shots in one day. “At 63, Venuji’s hard work deserves great appreciation,” Chandan said.
Promising composer and singer Nakul Abhayankar scored the music for Sudeepa’s song and sent a video message from the USA, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity. The film’s overall music, including three songs, was composed by Jassie Gift, who was also absent at the event but thanked the team for the opportunity.
Popular actor and KCA Chairman Sadhu Kokila, known for rarely attending promotional events, made an appearance to support Chandan. “There’s a director hidden in this actor,” he said. “I liked how he handled the subject. When a director becomes a producer, the responsibility increases. He has made this movie with great thought. I’ve never played a role like this before, and I appreciated his direction style.”
Leading ladies Nimika Ratnakar and Akshata Bopanna remarked that the film’s story and narration are unique, and they felt proud to be part of it.
Comedy actor Girish Shivanna, who has a major screen presence in Flirt, said he admires Chandan more as a director than as an actor and feels he deserves full encouragement.
Veteran actor Moogu Suresh, who has been in the industry for 39 years, plays a constable in the film and strongly recommends watching it.
Actor Darling Krishna, also a CCL teammate, attended the song release event and wished his friend Chandan the best for taking on multiple roles. In fact, Chandan considers Darling Krishna an inspiration, having followed in his footsteps as a director and producer after the success of the Love Mocktail series.
