In the Yamunanagar district of Haryana, a Muslim man named Bilal has been arrested for the murder of his Hindu girlfriend, Uma. The deceased victim (30), who resided with accused Bilal for two years, was found dead recently. Both Uma and Bilal are reported to be originally from Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur. The accused Bilal killed Uma on 6th December by strangling her. To hide the deceased victim’s identity, Bilal beheaded Uma.
Reports say that Uma was already married and had a child; however, she was staying alone due to a dispute with her husband. She asked Bilal to marry her. However, Bilal’s marriage was fixed somewhere else. Bilal admitted to the police that he feared that Uma would expose his relationship with her in front of Bilal’s family. Due to this, he planned Uma’s murder.
A taxi driver by profession, Bilal was to get married on 14th December 2025, and the previous Sunday, he had taken Uma with him on the pretext of taking her for a drive. Meanwhile, Bilal strangled Uma with the car’s seat belt. To conceal her identity, he severed her neck, wrapped her in polythene, and threw her body in the forest so that no one could identify her. Police have recovered the head at the accused’s behest.
An SIT has been formed to probe the case. During their investigation, the police found a car with a UP registration plate parked a short distance from the body late at night. A suspicious camera showed it heading towards UP. When the police, searching for the suspicious car, arrived at Bilal’s home, preparations for his wedding were underway. After his arrest, Bilal confessed that he was afraid Uma might go to his house and tell him everything.
