The Dharmasthala case has gripped Karnataka’s attention, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensifying its search operations based on an anonymous complaint that has shaken the state. Over the past week, SIT officials have been conducting systematic excavations across 13 identified locations, suspecting buried remains. However, after two days of digging at five marked sites, no human remains or significant evidence have been found.

Despite heavy rainfall, the SIT team, led by Pranab Mohanty and DIG Anucheth, supported by SP Jitendra and 20 officers, has been working tirelessly from 11 AM to 5:30 PM, with minimal breaks. The operations have been particularly focused on the “Bangle Gudda” area, which the complainant had marked as a burial site. On the first day, digging was carried out at one suspected site, followed by excavation at four locations on the second day. Yet, none yielded any trace of skeletal remains or other incriminating material.
Given the lack of findings, the SIT has decided not to proceed with a mahazar (formal spot documentation) for now. However, in a significant development, the SIT has established a dedicated office in Mangaluru and released a public helpline to gather further credible information.

Speaking on the developments, Karnataka’s Minister-in-Charge for Dakshina Kannada, Dinesh Gundu Rao, stated that the truth will emerge from the investigation. He also remarked that such a case might not have warranted an SIT, but the decision had already been made.
With eight more locations still to be examined in the coming days, the state now waits in anticipation to see whether any new revelations will surface.
