Mysuru is set to witness a grand celebration honoring one of the most colorful and respected personalities of the Kannada film industry — Dr. Sandesh Nagaraj — as he steps into his 80th year on August 16, 2025.
A veteran film producer, successful hotelier, former MLC, and a close confidant of the late Dr. Ambarish, Dr. Sandesh Nagaraj has left an indelible mark across multiple fields. Known for his humility, integrity, and practical wisdom, he has remained true to his ideals throughout his illustrious journey.
A Legacy of Cinema and Service
Over the last 35 years, under Sandesh Combines and Sandesh Productions, Dr. Nagaraj has produced 34 acclaimed Kannada films, beginning with Mannina Doni. Many of these films have received state and national honors, contributing richly to the Kannada film industry.
Speaking at a recent press conference, his children Sandesh and Brinda shared, “Our father’s contribution to cinema, politics, and business has shaped not only our family but also inspired many around him. He has always instilled in us the values of hard work and humility.”
Public Celebration on August 31
To mark this milestone, the family has organized a grand public celebration on August 31 at the Exhibition Grounds in Mysuru. The event promises to be a star-studded affair, attended by: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Film stars Shivrajkumar, Sudeep, and many more from the industry, Prominent political leaders, artists, and technicians
The event will kick off at 11:00 AM with a musical performance by ace composer Arjun Janya, followed by the screening of a special documentary chronicling Dr. Nagaraj’s life journey. In a generous gesture, arrangements have been made to serve meals to over 50,000 people.
Reflecting on their father’s teachings, Brinda shared: “He always told us: ‘Never lend money on interest; if you need funds, borrow — it will make you work harder to repay.’ That principle has guided us in life and business.”
Even at 80, Dr. Nagaraj remains active and continues to inspire those around him. The family will mark August 16 with a private celebration, including prayers and rituals, while the large-scale public event on August 31 will honor his contributions and legacy.
“We are proud to celebrate his journey with the people he loves the most,” said Sandesh and Brinda. “His happiness and principles are our greatest inheritance.”
