The film Rudrabhishekam narrates the history of the deity Veerabhadra and the folk art Veeragase, which is highly prevalent in North Karnataka. During its shooting, the team had already recorded performances of hundreds of Veeragase artists. Now, after the completion of shooting, dubbing work has also been finished.
Chinnari Mutha Vijay Raghavendra appears for the first time as a Veeragase performer in this film. Bigg Boss beauty Priyanka Thimmesh plays the female lead. With the cooperation of the producers and all the actors, the film is shaping up as intended without any hurdles. Dialog re-scripting has already been completed, and re-recording work for the film will begin from July 20, said director Vasanth Kumar.
Against the backdrop of a Veeragase family, the director has attempted to portray the roots and history of this art form.
Apart from villages around Chikkaballapur, some scenes have also been shot in the beautiful locations of the Malenadu region. Rudrabhishekam is the debut film from Fan India Productions. Along with director Vasanth Kumar, producers Manjunath K.N., N. Jayaram, K. Venkatesh, Chidananda Murthy, Suresh Babu, Ashwath Narayan, Shivakumar, and Ravikumar — a total of 9 producers — have invested in the film.
Our goal is to take this folk art, which has divine roots, to households across the land. Lead actor Vijay Raghavendra has been very supportive of us. He blended in with the team like a friend and extended his full cooperation. I myself am acting in the film as a philosopher. The role I play appears throughout the film in dual getups — as both father and son, said Vasanth Kumar.
Besides performing Veeragase, this is also the first time Vijay Raghavendra appears in a dual role — as father and son.
For this film, shooting for dialogues and songs has taken place for over 50 days around Devanahalli, and in the coastal locations of Gokarna, Honnavar, Kumta, Abbakka Fort, and the backwaters of Aghanashini — in locations that have never before been used for filming.
With a folk backdrop of our land, the film narrates the importance and centuries-old history of the Veeragase art form. The origin of this story is Lord Veerabhadra — who he is, how he came to be, and what led to his arrival — Rudrabhishekam tells this tale.
Veteran actor Bala Rajawadi appears as Oora Gowda (village head). Music is composed by V. Manohar, and cinematography is by Mutturaj.
