Patna (Bihar) [India], July 23 (ANI): The Bihar legislative assembly witnessed a heated exchange during the monsoon session when RJD MLA Bhai Virendra on Wednesday after he made a statement that was deemed objectionable by some members of the House.
After his comments, ministers allegedly started abusing him, leading to a further escalation of the situation. The heated exchange occurred during a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, escalating tensions between the ruling coalition and the opposition.
Responding to the accusations, RJD MLA Bhai Virendra stood firm, asserting, “Whatever I have said, I stand by it. I have said that the House is nobody’s property. What was wrong with what I said? This is parliamentary language… After this, the ministers started abusing. What should I apologise for? What wrong have I done?… Is Vijay Sinha our leader? Is he our master? They were born in front of me…”
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha condemned Virendra’s statement, saying, “CM tried to explain to them that only 2 days are left, so the questions of public interest should be allowed to be raised peacefully… But their leader, Bhai Virendra, said that does the House belong to anyone’s father? In this way, he wants to establish the Gunda Raaj inside the House. They have forgotten that this is not the 90s… We told them to apologise for their language… If they do not apologise, then such people have no right to sit in the House.”
Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary also criticised the opposition’s conduct, stating, “These people showed their arrogance yesterday, too. Once the House started, the speaker of the legislative assembly told the opposition to express its views with dignity… When CM told them that the assembly would be over in 2-3 days, people did not agree and started using abusive language… We asked him to apologise… We condemn the entire incident…”
The altercation began when Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav raised concerns over the SIR process, alleging it created fear among migrant voters.
