A team from Northern Karnataka is making waves once again with a cinematic venture steeped in ancient belief and myth. Their latest project under Lokura Films is titled ‘Rathnapura – Bhandara Nidhi’, and its generating interest with its unique storyline and grounded filmmaking approach.
The film’s trailer was officially launched by noted Kannada activist Praveen Shetty, who expressed his support and best wishes to the passionate team behind the film.
A few songs from the film were screened during the launch event at Sri Renukamba Digital theater:
Swami Banda…Kadiruve Naa Ninage…Manasella Ninna Chinte..Yakara Chinte Maduthi..Nidhiye Nidhiye…Kaapadu Rathnapura

These songs give a clear indication that the movie centers on a treasure hunt, set against an ancient and mysterious backdrop.
Haalesh, the film’s director and lead actor, hails from Athani in Belagavi district. With over 12 years in the Kannada film industry, including collaborations with acclaimed directors like P. Seshadri and Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, he brings both experience and passion to the project. The concept for ‘Rathnapura’ was born six years ago and refined during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Producer Ravi S. Pujar, a philanthropist and entrepreneur involved in real estate, banking, textiles, and NGOs, came forward to support the project. A BJP member, he also appears in a cameo alongside his wife.
One of the standout technical aspects of the film is its lighting. Nearly 200 lanterns were used during the shoot, with no natural sunlight or artificial lights employed—creating a raw, atmospheric look.
Cinematographer Saddu (born Saddam Hussain, but prefers his nickname) is a journalism graduate from Oxford College. His experience in media and passion for camera work allowed him to craft the film’s low-light, realistic visual style.
The film’s music is composed by Prasanna Bhoja Shetty, a gold medalist and a talent from A.R. Rahman’s studio. Discovered by Haalesh through an Instagram post, Prasanna brings fresh experimentation to the soundtrack. Hari has penned the lyrics.
Two out of the five songs have been released under Siri Music, and as per Chikkanna of Siri Music, the songs will be available across 51 music platforms.
The launch event also saw the presence of Avihash Guruswamy and the associate director and antagonist Sunil, who spoke about his role in the film.
