A film on the struggles of civic workers, acted in and directed by Chandru Obayya is set for release. Apparently this is a novel based cinema.
Director Chandru Obayya, known for films like U Turn-2 and ‘Karimani Malika’, has now directed and produced a socially conscious film titled Rama and Ramu. He also plays the role of a civic worker in the movie.
The teaser launch and press meet of the film were held recently. The story highlights the daily challenges faced by civic workers and the role of citizens in this context.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandru Obayya said I began this film a year ago. A video I once came across on Face book inspired me to make it. In that video, a female civic worker, who was cleaning the surroundings and streets, asked for water in front of a house. The way the residents treated her deeply disturbed me. That incident made me write a novel, which later turned into this film. If we don’t respect those who clean our environment, and then who will? With a dedicated team, I created this film with the message that after being born, we must contribute something to society.”
The film has already completed production and has received a U/A certificate from the censor board. Chandru Obayya announced that it will be released soon.
The event was attended by the film’s heroine Soumya Amarapurkar from Belagavi, actor Nagendra Uras who plays a police officer, actor Moogu Suresh, Lokesh, Velu Dhruva, child artist Ima Rose, Narayan – president of the civic workers’ association, Obalesh and several others.
