Rajinikanth’s Coolie leads advance ticket sales with over 8.3 lakh bookings, outpacing Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2.
The Independence Day week is shaping up for a blockbuster box office showdown as two of the year’s most anticipated films, Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s War 2, gear up for release on August 14. While War 2 is securing a wider theatrical footprint with 8,510 shows across India compared to Coolie’s 7,338, early booking trends reveal a different leader.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie has already sold 8,35,850 tickets for its opening day, a staggering 560% higher than the 1,26,287 tickets booked for War 2. In terms of revenue, War 2 has collected Rs 4.11 crore from advance bookings so far, with projections of Rs 8.54 crore for Day 1 including blocked seats. Coolie, on the other hand, has amassed Rs 17.72 crore in pre-sales and is on track for a Rs 24.28 crore debut, surpassing War 2’s opening estimates days before release.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, making his Bollywood debut, and Kiara Advani. The action spectacle will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with premium screenings in formats such as IMAX and 4DX.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie features an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan. The film will premiere in Tamil with dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
With only days left until release, Coolie is firmly positioned for a thunderous opening, while War 2 will be aiming to close the gap in ticket sales as the countdown to the Independence Day holiday begins.
