“February 30” is a film that carries a psychological thriller storyline. The movie is directed by Prashanth M.L. from Mysuru, and Joseph Baby has funded it under Shankar Movies International. One wonders how come 30 days in February month. History has a few inputs to it but the film considers this day ‘February 30’ as a judgment day.
The teaser release event of this film was held recently. Abhishek, Sahitya Shetty, Akshay, Manoj, and Shivakumar have acted in the lead roles. P.M. Unnikrishnan has handled the cinematography, and Lijin Bamboo has composed the music for the film.
Director Prashanth, speaking on the occasion, said: “I work in IT, and during my free time, writing stories and making short films is my hobby. Shivakumar supported me in this. I wondered why I shouldn’t make a film, and that thought led me to create a short story. Through friends, I got introduced to this producer. He didn’t even listen to the story; he simply said, ‘Make the film and show it.’ When you hear the title February 30, it immediately creates curiosity. With that same curiosity, audiences who come to the theatre will get answers along with a thrilling experience.
No one would have imagined that a date like February 30 might occur in our life. In this film, we have shown how the six inner enemies (Arishadvargas) within us can become our own villains.
The film tries to depict what experiences five friends go through when they visit an unknown place and how they fight against a supernatural force. We shot the film in Ammachi Kottal, Kerala, for 14 days, and in Mysuru for 3 days — a total of 17 days — shooting 24 hours a day. The story that begins in Mysuru also ends there. The film is now ready for release, and we plan to release it next month,” he said.
Actor Abhishek, one of the leads, is currently in the Bigg Boss house. Another actor, Akshay, said “When Shivakumar narrated the story to me, I found it very interesting. Vagamon in Idukki is an amazing location. Earlier, I had acted in the film Paathshaala. This is my second film,” he said.
Lead actress Sahitya Shetty said: “This is my first film. My role appears alongside Abhishek,” she said.
Actor Manoj said: “I come from a theatre background. I learned acting there. This is a story about the Arishadvargas. The producers have made the film with great passion,” he said.
Cinematographer Unnikrishnan said that most of the shooting was done at night. Using single camera and low light the effect, mood and environment was created for the film he adds.
Music director Lijin Bambino said “There is only one song in the film, and Vasuki Vaibhav has sung it. Apart from that, we have done the theme music,” he said.
Assistant director and actor Shivakumar Shivanna said “Prashanth has been my friend for 17 years. We worked in the same company. I have also played a role in the film,” he said.
Tandava Ram, Chayashree, Prajwal, Dr. Jagadish Mysore and others are part of the remaining cast of “February 30.”
The producer of this film Joseph Baby a businessman in Garlic and Ginger export, education institutions, farmer by profession, acted in one film, produced three films so far and he was impressed with IT professional Prashanth track record to invest more than Rs.1 crore on this ‘February 30’.
