BMRCL Yellow Line Metro from RV Road to Bommasandra set for grand launch; PM Modi to inaugurate 19.15 km route connecting Electronic City
Bengaluru is all set to welcome a much-awaited metro upgrade, as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is preparing to inaugurate the Yellow Line on August 10. The 19.15 km corridor stretches from RV Road to Bommasandra, connecting key IT hubs like Silk Board Junction and Electronic City.

After multiple delays primarily due to train shortages and pending safety inspections, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) recently submitted a successful safety clearance report, with only minor conditions to be met. BMRCL has assured these issues will be resolved swiftly.
The Yellow Line is expected to initially operate trains at 20-minute intervals, with a daily ridership estimate of around 25,000 commuters. This corridor includes 16 stations and was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹5,000 crore.

Building anticipation around the launch, Union Minister Manohar Lal and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya announced on social media that PM Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro on August 10. There’s also buzz that Phase 3 of the metro expansion will be launched on the same day.

With the Centre’s approval now reportedly secured, the launch of the Yellow Line marks a major milestone in Bengaluru’s public transport infrastructure, particularly for commuters traveling to and from the city’s tech corridor.
