New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the Opposition in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday said “RJD-Congress” are hell bent on ensuring the return of “jungle raj” in the state as he kicked off the NDA’s election campaign from Samastipur.
PM Modi said the atmosphere in Mithila clearly showed that the “jungle raj of the Opposition” will be rejected by the people of Bihar, who will choose progress and development and ensure the NDA wins once again.
“The RJD and Congress are only concerned about the political future of their own families. That’s why today they are setting new records of lies in front of Bihar’s youth. Where there is a party like RJD, law and order cannot exist. During RJD’s rule, extortion, murder, ransom, kidnapping… flourished here as an industry,” the PM said.
PM Modi said the funds given to Bihar by the Congress for development have been tripled by the NDA government.
Countering the allegations by the Opposition of development in other states over Bihar, the PM cited several examples of new projects that have been initiated by the Centre and the state government in Bihar.
“When three times the money comes, the development will also be three times more, of course. A six-lane highway is being built from Samastipur to Purnia. New rail lines are being constructed, trains like Vande Bharat are running, and new electricity factories are being set up in Bihar,” he added.
Exuding confidence, the PM said this time in Bihar too, under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, the NDA “is set to break all its old records of victory”. “In these elections, Bihar will give the NDA its biggest ever mandate,” he said.
Coming down heavily on the RJD and the Congress, Modi said their leaders were facing corruption charges.
“These are people who are out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores. And those who are on bail are on bail in theft cases. Their habit of theft is such that now they are engaged in stealing the title of jananayak (leader of the people). The people of Bihar will never tolerate this insult to Jannayak Karpoori babu,” he said.
Before addressing the public rally, PM also visited Karpoori Gram to pay tribute to former Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur and called him a true champion of social justice.
Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi without naming him, PM Modi said that “their” habit of stealing was now so out of control, that they were trying to steal the title of ‘Jananayak’ Karpuri Thakur.
“Inspired by Jannayak Karpoori Thakur, we are transforming good governance into prosperity, but on the other hand, what are the RJD and the Congress people doing and saying? You know this better than I do; I don’t need to remind you,” he said.
Recently, there was a controversy after the BJP reacted to the Congress describing Rahul Gandhi as a ‘jannayak’, saying it was an insult to the legacy of Karpoori Thakur.
PM Modi said his government had worked for the welfare of the poor, Dalits, Mahadalits, backward and extremely backward classes and highlighted that the BJP-led government gave 10 percent reservation to the poor in the general category and extended the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for another 10 years.
“When the NDA government was formed in Delhi, I had pledged to rid the youth of Bihar and the entire nation of Maoist terror. I had to save our young daughters and sons at all cost… Today, I can humbly say, and with great satisfaction, that we have broken the back of Naxalism and Maoist terror in Bihar. Soon, the entire country and Bihar will be completely free from Maoist terror and this is Modi’s guarantee,” he said.
