Following this, the Prime Minister proceeded to Ragigudda Metro Station where he officially inaugurated the Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line, a 19.15-kilometer corridor featuring 16 stations. This metro line connects Electronic City to Bommasandra and is expected to ease traffic and provide fast, reliable transit to thousands of commuters daily.
The Yellow Line project involved an investment of ₹7,616 crore. The foundation stone for this line was laid by PM Modi on June 14, 2016. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) invited tenders for the project in December 2016, divided into three packages. Civil works began in November 2017, and trial runs were successfully conducted from July 22 to 25, 2025.

Currently, three trains operate on the Yellow Line at intervals of 20-25 minutes. A fourth train is expected to join by the end of the month to increase capacity. Daily ridership is projected between 25,000 and 30,000 passengers, with the potential to grow up to 800,000 as more trains are added.
This addition strengthens Bengaluru’s metro network, enhancing last-mile connectivity and providing a swift, eco-friendly travel option for commuters in the city’s fast-growing IT and industrial corridors.
