The new high-speed train will link Bengaluru and Belagavi in just 8 hours, boosting connectivity across major cities including Tumakuru, Davangere, and Hubballi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the new Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, a milestone in Karnataka’s rail infrastructure.
The Prime Minister traveled from the helipad near Mekhri Circle by road, passing through Chalukya Circle to reach the Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station (KSR Bengaluru). There, he flagged off the Vande Bharat Express by waving the green flag. Large crowds thronged the route and station to catch a glimpse of the PM during this historic occasion.

After the launch, PM Modi proceeded via road through Chalukya Circle to Ragigudda Metro Station, marking the city’s ongoing urban transit development.
This new semi-high-speed train service will run six days a week, except on Wednesdays. The train covers a route passing through 8 districts in Karnataka: Tumakuru, Davangere, Haveri, Hubballi, Dharwad, and others, providing faster and more efficient rail travel between Bengaluru and Belagavi.
The journey timings are as follows:
• Departure from Belagavi at 5:20 am, arrival at Bengaluru at 1:50 pm
• Return from Bengaluru at 2:20 pm, arrival at Belagavi at 10:40 pm

Along the route, the train will halt at 6 major district centers, ensuring improved regional connectivity.
With this launch, Karnataka’s Vande Bharat network now includes a total of 11 trains operating on various routes across the state and neighboring regions:
• MGR Chennai Central – Mysuru Vande Bharat Express
• Mysuru – MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express
• Kalaburagi – SMVT Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express
• KSR Bengaluru – Dharwad Vande Bharat Express
• Mangaluru Central – Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express
• Bengaluru Cantonment – Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express
• Mangaluru Central – Madgaon Vande Bharat Express
• Bengaluru Yeshwantpur – Kacheguda Hyderabad Vande Bharat Express
• Bengaluru Cantonment – Madurai Vande Bharat Express
• Hubballi – Pune Vande Bharat Express
