Bengaluru police have filed a suo moto case after a disturbing video of a boy standing through a car’s sunroof and hitting a height restriction barrier in Vidyaranyapura went viral. The child collapsed on the spot, and the incident, captured on another car’s dashboard camera, has raised serious concerns over parental negligence and road safety awareness.

The Yelahanka Traffic Police swung into action after the video surfaced on social media. Based on the vehicle number KA 50 ME 2848, police booked the driver, identified as the boy’s grandfather, Munnacharya, under relevant sections. An FIR has also been registered, with the car officially registered under the boy’s father, Krishnamurthy.
Authorities visited the boy’s residence to gather information and have questioned Krishnamurthy. The police say this step was crucial to send a message about road safety and responsible parenting. Investigators are now probing how the incident occurred and whether negligence played a role.
