A new wave of young Kannada filmmakers brings forth a suspense-filled horror experience with the film Omen, whose trailer was officially launched at the SRV Preview Theatre in Malleswaram. Produced under the banners of Maravanji Productions and Sri Angala Parameshwari Movie Makers, the film is helmed by director Vibin S. Santhosh and produced by Ajay Kumar and V. Mirunalini.
Addressing the press meet, director Vibin S. Santhosh explained that the title Omen signifies “a sign” or “shakuna,” which holds layered meaning in the context of the film. Shot entirely in the found footage format, the story revolves around paranormal events in and around a mysterious house. The narrative begins when two individuals enter a haunted bungalow—Ajay Kumar plays a YouTuber, while Neeshma Shetty portrays a paranormal researcher. Unlike typical ghost or horror films, Omen attempts a fresh approach with a tighter narrative and immersive technique.
Filmed over 38 days in an old building near Anekal, the team custom-designed sets to suit the film’s eerie tone. With a background in VFX, the director himself managed the visual effects and editing for the project. He noted that the background score plays a key role in intensifying the atmosphere and praised the collaborative spirit of the team.

Producer and lead actor Ajay Kumar shared that he hails from an agricultural family involved in land business and had previously worked as an assistant director in the Kannada film industry. He reflected on his time working on veteran director-actor Kashinath’s last film and was inspired by Kashinath’s advice that “a strong story is the backbone of any good film.” Motivated by that, Ajay Kumar chose to produce and act in Omen, and praised the contributions of the cast and crew—especially actress Neeshma Shetty for her performance. The team plans to release the film across Karnataka next month through distributor Vijay.
Co-producer Mirunalini, who came on board during the final stages of production, stated that Omen offers viewers an experience that feels like witnessing real events. She emphasized the impact of high-end computer graphics and confirmed that she has taken charge of all release responsibilities.
Music composers Bhuvan Shankar and Sanskaar, who have previously worked on five films, shared that although Omen doesn’t feature songs, the background music posed a unique challenge and was completed within 15 days. Actor Raghu, who plays a police inspector in the film, spoke about his role and experiences. The film also stars Maitri Jaggi, Keerthana Pulki, and Akash Kulkarni. SFX work was done by Ansho S. Simon, and editing was handled by the director himself.
The Omen trailer is now live and gaining traction online. The film is expected to hit theatres across the state next month with a wide release.
