In Srinagar’s Nowgam, a massive explosion at a police station has caused 9 deaths and several injuries. As per reports, the explosion occurred on the night of Friday, November 14.
The explosion reportedly occurred due to the mishandling of the huge quantities of ammonium nitrate, which was recently confiscated in Faridabad, Haryana, from a terrorist module. Several Forensic lab personnel and police officials are among the dead and injured, as per reports. Two officials from the Srinagar administration have also died in the blast.

The ammonium nitrate, around 2900 kg of it, was seized on Monday in Faridabad, Haryana, by the joint operation of the J&K Police and the Haryana Police. The seizure was a part of the operation and raids on a terror module involving several doctors from Jammu and Kashmir, with many of them working at the Al Falah University in Faridabad.
Dr Umar Nabi, a key leader of the terror module, had reportedly fled with some more explosive materials and his car was blown up near Gate Number 1 of the Delhi Metro Station. 13 people have died so far in the Delhi blast. The investigation on the terror module is ongoing and several terror suspects are under custody.

The injured persons have been rushed to the Indian Army’s 92 Base Hospital and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar. Nowgam police station was where the investigation of the Faridabad-Kashmir terror module is ongoing.
The police have clarified that the blast at the Nowgam police station was due to accidental mishandling of the explosive material and not an act of terrorism.
