“Nothing in life really prepares you for a heartbreak like June 4th,” Virat Kohli said in an emotional note, remembering the stampede at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives during RCB’s historic IPL title celebrations.

Kohli, in a heartfelt message, admitted that what should have been RCB’s proudest moment turned into an unforgettable tragedy. He offered prayers for the families of those who died and support for fans who were injured. “Your loss is part of our story now. Together, we will move forward with care, respect and responsibility,” he said.

In the aftermath, Royal Challengers Bengaluru launched ‘RCB Cares’, a social initiative to extend long-term support to grieving families. As part of the programme, the franchise announced a compensation of ₹25 lakh each for the families of the 11 victims, reaffirming its responsibility towards fans who form the heartbeat of the team.
