The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, hosted its 33rd convocation on Sunday, celebrating the graduation of 1,557 students across multiple programmes. The ceremony marked the first batch of graduates from the three-year LLB (Hons) programme, with 43 students completing the course, including a Rhodes Scholar for 2025.
This year’s graduates represented a diverse academic spectrum. The cohort included six doctoral scholars, 26 from the Master of Public Policy programme, 114 from the Master of Laws programme, 98 from the five-year BA LLB (Hons) course, and 1,270 from online and hybrid education programmes. The latter group covered the Master of Business Laws and nine postgraduate diploma courses. Twenty-six students received gold medals in recognition of outstanding academic achievements, while certificates were also presented to top performers across diploma specialisations. Among the notable awardees was BA LLB (Hons) student Niharika Mukherjee, who earned the gold medal in the 28th Annual HM Seervai Essay Competition in Constitutional Law.

The convocation drew the presence of senior members of the judiciary, including Supreme Court justices B.V. Nagarathna, Sanjay Karol, and Surya Kant, along with Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Vibhu Bhakru. Justice Surya Kant, serving as chief guest, formally declared the convocation open on behalf of the Chancellor.
In his address, Justice Kant urged graduates to uphold ethical standards, make deliberate choices, and pursue legal practice as a means of driving social transformation.
