In Disney’s live-action adaptation of the beloved Oscar®-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.
Given the fact that Disney has already gone through much of its animated library for their live-action treatment, it was inevitable that they would eventually get around to revisioning Moana. My only problem is that of the movie itself because it’s a little bit too close (or rather to recent) to its original 2016 animated feature film. I know that’s roughly a decade apart from original and live-action, but it just feels like a little “too soon”. Still, from what was shown in the preview, everything looks great and I did love the original Moana movie, so I am still quite excited to see how this new live-action take will be presented. Will it add more to it or just another carbon copy paste like others have done. Only time will tell….
