A 35-year-old man was recently arrested for assaulting a five-year-old boy while the child was playing on the road with his mother in Bengaluru.
The accused has been identified as a resident of Thyagarajanagar in south Bengaluru.
According to the police, the kid was playing badminton with his mother and other children when the accused kicked the boy from behind without any provocation and walked away. The assault was caught on a CCTV camera installed in a neighbouring house.
“The boy and his mother are residents of Doddamavalli. The child was on a visit to his uncle’s place,” a police officer said. The boy sustained injuries near his eyes and scratches on his limbs.
The police initially registered a non-cognizable report (NCR) and registered the First Information Report under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) after getting a court nod on Monday.
The police officer said the accused is mentally unstable and has been involved in such attacks on children whenever they made noise. The accused was released on station bail, and his family later took him to a hospital in Tamil Nadu.
