A 41-year-old man who was reportedly stalking and abusing a television actor by sending her obscene videos and photos was arrested by the Bengaluru police over the weekend.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Naveen K Mon, a delivery manager at a private firm in Whitefield. They said the victim, a well-known Kannada and Telugu television actor, was being harassed since August, but she filed a complaint on November 1.
The actor said in her complaint that she received a “friend’s request” on Facebook from a profile named Naveenz, but she did not accept it. However, Naveen started sending her abusive and obscene messages on Messenger.
“I warned him not to send such messages and then blocked it too. However, he created new profiles and continued to message. He started sending photos and videos of his private parts, inviting me to have sex,” the FIR stated.
The victim then approached the police, and filed a complaint.
After receiving the complaint, the police asked the victim to call Naveen at a restaurant in the city at around 11.30 am on November 1. When he came to meet the victim, the police, who posed as customers, caught him.
“Naveen tried to portray himself as an influential person and tried to evade the arrest. However, when he realised we would not pay any heed, he pleaded with us not to arrest him. But we brought him to the police station,” a police officer said.
