The police arrested a 35-year-old man who allegedly killed his two young nephews and critically injured another on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Saturday while their parents were away at work.
The deceased are Mohammed Ishaq, 9, Mohammed Junaid, 7, and the injured boy is Mohammed Rohan, 5. The victims are the sons of the accused Mohammed Khasim’s elder brother, Chand Pasha, a native of Yadgir district.
Pasha was living in Kammasandra, south Bengaluru, with his wife and three children, and Khasim, a building construction labourer, had come to stay with them in search of a job.
According to the police, Khasim, who used to frequently quarrel with his brother, allegedly hit the children with an iron rod on their heads when their grandmother had gone to the grocery store.
A police officer said, “When the grandmother returned home, Khasim was inside and she screamed for help, then neighbours broke open the door. Khasim escaped from the spot but was later caught by the police.”
According to the officer, Khasim frequently quarrelled with his brother as he was not taking care of his financial expenses, although the police suspect that Khasim was mentally unstable.
The police have registered a murder case and are investigating the matter.
