The cops shot him at his legs during retaliatory firing. He was wounded and taken to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal. Authorities stated that additional investigations are in progress.
Salman raped the minor girl on November 21, when she was playing outside her house. He approached her and lured her into a nearby forest by offering her chocolates. He raped the girl the in the forest and then fled.
As the kid went missing, the family started looking for her. They were informed that the girl was last seen with Salman. After finding her in an injured condition, the girl was taken to a hospital, where it was confirmed that she had been raped. She was later referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal.
According to media reports, Salman was observed freely wandering the vicinity where he committed the crime, for multiple days. Two videos featuring him have also emerged. He was seen providing instructions to a tractor driver in one clip while he is observed purchasing cigarettes in the other.
He appeared unfazed in the videos. It is possible that he believed his heinous act would go unnoticed. He also seemed assured that the girl died, leading him to believe that he would not be recognised, even if bystanders raised an alarm.
However, when he started to look for a house to rent in Gandhi Nagar area, but didn’t have any identity proof, it raised suspicion among the local residents. They alerted the police, after which Gandhi Nagar Police arrested him, and then handed him over to Sultanganj police station in Raisen. However, during the transfer, he tried to flee and got shot instead.
