Music director M.M. Keeravani, known for Baahubali and RRR, has sung a Kannada song after many years in the upcoming film Maggipustaka. The film is being made under the Chinnaswamy banner and is written and directed by Harivarasanam, who has handled the story, screenplay, and dialogues. Chinnaswamy Yatiraj is producing the film.
Maggipustaka is positioned as a message-driven film aimed at general audiences, including children. Yashas Nachappa is the music director. Alongside Keeravani, 18 singers have contributed to the songs, including Rajesh Krishnan, Vijay Prakash, Gururaj Hosakote, Naveen Sajju, Saindhavi, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, and Ravindra Suragavi.
The film has been shot in locations including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Srirangapatna, Mangaluru, and around H.D. Kote. Cinematography is by Nandakumar, and editing is by Shivakumar. Post-production has been completed, and the film is currently in the censor process. The team is preparing to release the teaser and songs shortly.
The cast includes Ranjan Kasaragod, Raksha Gowda, Meghana, Ranvi Shekhar, Mysore Ramanand, Shobharaj, Krishna Mahesh, and others.
This is Keeravani’s first time singing in a Kannada film since Appaji and Zameendaru, which starred Dr. Vishnuvardhan. The film features seven songs, all performed by Kannada playback singers. According to director Harivarasanam, the music has been composed with an emphasis on content.
