A disturbing case of Love Jihad has come to light in the Piplod Police Station of the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, where a Hindu woman was sexually abused and blackmailed by a Muslim couple between 22nd October and 3rd December. A case was lodged on the complaint of the victim against the culprits, Meherban Munir and his wife, Shabnam, under relevant provisions.
The victim reportedly told the police that she came in contact with the accused, Meherban, a few months ago. He won her trust and took her to his home, where his wife, Shabnam, was present. The couple threatened and beat her and forced her to convert to Islam. When she resisted, the accused threatened to kill her brother. Subsequently, the accused raped her on multiple occasions and captured her obscene videos and photos to blackmail her. Meherban, father of one, kept pressuring her to convert to Islam. The victim got married a few days ago, after which the accused circulated her obscene videos on social media.
Additional SP Mahendra Tarnekar said that the victim met Meherban a few months ago. Gradually, she grew closer to the accused after he trapped her by creating a false impression of love. He added that the police have taken Meherban into custody and started questioning him. Police are looking for his wife, who is on the run.
After coming to know about the incident, several Bajran Dal activists reached the Piplod police station and demanded strict action against the culprits.
