A recent incident of love jihad is garnering attention in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh. Naseem, a youth hailing from Sitapur, masqueraded as Ajay Kumar and developed a friendship with a young Hindu woman on Instagram. Their conversations intensified with time, leading him to entice her into a romantic relationship before eloping with her.
According to the family members, the victim disappeared suddenly on 29th August which led her mother to submit a police report. The investigation uncovered that the accused took her to a secret location and pushed her into marrying him. She was reportedly assaulted and repeatedly forced to convert to Islam upon her refusal.
The authorities revealed that the girl had been raped multiple times which has led to her being approximately one and a half months pregnant. Her statement has been recorded and a medical examination is currently in progress. The police have apprehended the perpetrator and are in the process of interrogating him.
