Very rarely short films are without any shortfalls and the one such is ‘Lakshmi’ an emotion filled short film that has 27 awards at the international level.
So it is celebration time for Abhijit Purohit and he celebrated it with his mother 70th birthday with some of the guests present at the Renukamba Digital Theater in Malleswaram.

Abhijith Purohit, who has gained substantial experience working across various television segments, directed the short film “Lakshmi” last year. The film has now garnered appreciation at several national and international film festivals, winning a total of 27 awards in categories including acting, direction, music, and cinematography.
On this special occasion, Abhijith, who holds immense love and respect for his mother, also celebrated her 70th birthday in a meaningful way under the theme “Nalini at 70: From Kitchen to Red Carpet.” Using AI technology, he presented a surprise video where Nalini was greeted by her late husband, father, and mother. Overwhelmed by the unexpected gesture, tears of joy welled up in Nalini’s eyes.

Speaking on stage, Abhijith mentioned that he had invited Girijamma as the most fitting guest for this event, and she had accepted the invitation with great happiness. He shared, “My short film Lakshmi has won 27 awards, and I credit the media’s support for this success. For my mother’s 70th birthday, I even installed a cutout of her. Through AI, I showed her visuals of the father, mother, and husband she lost 40 years ago.” On this occasion, he also gifted his mother a statue of her father.
Nalini mother of Abhijit Purohit moved by her son’s love, said, “My son has brought me awards, honor, and even made me see my late loved ones. I am truly blessed to have a son like him.”
Veteran actress Girija Lokesh, who was present at the event, said, “Not all mothers are fortunate to have a son like this. The surprise he gave to his mother was incredibly touching. Nalini is now a star in her own right. I watched the short film ‘Lakshmi’, and in just 36 minutes, he conveyed such profound emotions. He has also shown how to maintain strong ties with one’s roots and home.”
Actress Padmaja Rao, who played a role in the film, said, “It was Abhi who gave me the opportunity to play such a powerful role. And the film even fetched me an award.”
Director Raghuram, reminiscing about his own mother, became emotional on stage. Music director Giridhar Diwan was also present at the event. The celebration was extended to all mothers, who were invited to attend and share in the moment.
