Under Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy’s leadership, KSRTC has introduced accident and breakdown response vehicles designed as mobile workshops to ensure quick repairs and reduce inconvenience to passengers and road users.
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a new operational plan aimed at improving bus maintenance and emergency response on highways and city roads. As part of this initiative, KSRTC has introduced dedicated emergency response vehicles to handle accidents and sudden bus breakdowns more efficiently.
The new vehicles were flagged off under the leadership of Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy. These units are specially designed to respond quickly whenever KSRTC buses meet with accidents or develop technical issues while operating on routes.

The emergency response vehicles will function on a mobile workshop model, allowing technicians to carry out on-the-spot repairs. This system is expected to significantly reduce the time taken to fix buses that break down midway and help resume services faster without the need for towing in many cases.
Initially, two such vehicles have been deployed at strategic central locations in Bengaluru and Mysuru. From these hubs, the teams will cover a wide operational area. The service will assist KSRTC buses operating in and around Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Mysuru and Mandya regions.

KSRTC officials said the new system will be particularly helpful in situations where buses stop due to technical faults at busy junctions or highways. Quick response and immediate repairs will help prevent traffic congestion caused by stalled buses and ensure smoother vehicle movement on key routes.
The initiative is also expected to reduce inconvenience to passengers who are often stranded during breakdowns or accidents. By ensuring faster repairs and quicker clearance of affected buses, KSRTC aims to improve service reliability and commuter confidence.
