The film Konark, directed by Srinivas Timmaiah of Naanu Matthu Gunda fame, was launched recently at Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple in Nagarabhavi. The film is being produced under the banner of Mavinamara Films, with Dhanush and Falguni Khanna in the lead roles.
At the muhurtha ceremony, PRO Sudheendra Venkatesh unveiled the clapboard to mark the start of the project. Several dignitaries and members of the film team were present. A press meet followed the launch.
Director Srinivas Timmaiah said that it took two years for the story of Konark to take shape. “Konark means the light that falls on Earth from the Sun, and the title suits the story,” he explained. Alongside the lead pair, the film features Abhijit, Harry Josh, Sudharani, Ramesh Indira, B. Suresh, Raj Deepak Shetty, and Yash Shetty. Story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Srinivas Timmaiah himself. The technical crew includes Shyam C.S. (music), Sanketh Mysore (cinematography), K.M. Prakash (editing), Dr. Ravi Varma, Arjun, Chetan D’Souza, Vinod, Vikram (stunts), and Bhushan and Moin (choreography).

The first schedule of shooting is planned in South Africa in October, followed by schedules in Mumbai, Goa, Karwar, Honnavar, Bengaluru, and Mysore. Mavinamara Films is producing the project through a group of friends.
Actor Dhanush said he has known director Srinivas Timmaiah for six years. “I wanted to act under his direction after observing his work during Naanu Matthu Gunda. The time has now come, and the story of Konark is very strong,” he stated.
Lead actress Falguni Khanna shared that she hails from Delhi and currently lives in Mumbai. Having already acted in a Telugu film, Konark will mark her debut in Kannada cinema. Senior actor Abhijit said he was impressed by the way Srinivas Timmaiah narrated the story and immediately decided to be part of the project. Several actors, technicians, and producer Madan Kumar were also present at the press conference.
