Anita Prasad from Bogadi becomes Karnataka’s first transgender woman to secure an HGV driving licence, plans to teach driving and start an inclusive logistics business.
Anita Prasad, a 52-year-old resident of Bogadi, has made history as Karnataka’s first transgender woman to obtain a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driving licence. She received her licence on July 31 from the Yesvantpur Regional Transport Office (RTO). Having transitioned in 2021, Anita aims to shatter stereotypes by teaching driving skills to members of the transgender community and women.

Anita’s credentials are impressive: she holds a flying licence from Germany, a PhD in management from YSU California, and a certificate in Computational Fluid Dynamics from the Indian Institute of Science. She also founded the Anita Humanitarian Foundation and co-founded Vistarik Robotics & Shrijan.
Her ambition extends beyond personal achievement. Anita plans to launch an inclusive travel and logistics business operating on the Bengaluru–Belagavi route, providing employment opportunities while promoting inclusivity.

Anita expressed that she hopes her licence will create opportunities for others in her community. She aims for transgender individuals and women to confidently operate buses, goods vehicles, and lead their lives without facing discrimination.
Her journey inspires many by demonstrating determination, breaking societal barriers, and fostering empowerment within marginalized groups.
