Karnataka wins National Energy Conservation Award 2025, beating Maharashtra; retains ‘front‑runner’ status in energy efficiency index for 3rd year
Karnataka has regained its leadership in energy efficiency by winning the National Energy Conservation Award (NECA) 2025, reaffirming its strong performance in sustainable energy initiatives. The state also maintained its ‘front‑runner’ status in the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) for the third consecutive year, outperforming Maharashtra in the latest evaluation.
After narrowly missing the award in 2024, Karnataka bounced back this year, scoring 2.75 points higher than Maharashtra on a 100‑point scale. The recognition highlights the state’s consistent efforts to integrate energy‑saving measures across multiple sectors.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) Chairperson TD Rajegowda and Managing Director KP Rudrappaiah. The award was conferred under the State Energy Efficiency Performance Award (SDA Group‑I) category, which evaluates states on seven parameters including cross‑sector programmes, energy‑efficient buildings, agriculture, municipal services, transport, distribution companies, and industrial initiatives.
