The Bengaluru police lodged a case after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar received a bomb threat email on Saturday, October 11, stating that four RDX and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDS) have been planted at their houses.
After a thorough investigation, the bomb threat was found to be a hoax, the police said
The email, sent between 10 am and 9 pm from the address aarna.ashwinsheker@outlook.com, said the explosives planted could be blown up using a remote control.
After an online complaint was sent to the DGP office, the police on Saturday registered the case under sections 351 (4) for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication and 353 (1) (b) for conducing to public mischief with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the state or against the public tranquility of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“6 RDX IEDs planted….blasts will occur after Friday Islamic Prayers (sic),” were sent from an email id cho_ramaswamy@hotmail.com on September 19, and the sender identified himself as Tughlak magazine’s late editor Cho. Ramaswamy. After anti-sabotage checks, both emails were found to be a hoax,” the email read.

In March last year, days after a blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah, state ministers, and senior officials received an email threatening explosions across the state, and demanding a ransom of nearly Rs 20 crore.
