A new team has stepped into the film industry with the aim of creating a fresh cinematic wave inspired by K-Pop, showcasing Korean pop culture through Indian cinema. Titled “K-Pop film is being made in Kannada and Telugu languages.
The project attempts to highlight how Korean pop culture has influenced Karnataka, India, and several countries across the world. With this unique concept at its core, director Kevin Luke and his team are presenting a fantasy-driven story through cinema.
The team recently released a promo unveiling the film’s title, followed by details about the project. Speaking on the occasion, director Kevin Luke explained that K-Pop, in this film, represents what happens when an unknown person enters one’s life while pursuing dreams and aspirations. Lavanya has joined the project as the writer. Kevin Luke added that the team’s primary goal is to work hard and deliver a meaningful and entertaining film.
The film portrays Korean pop culture and the impact it has created in India and globally. Along with several thematic layers, characters such as Shani Mahatma and Yama Maharaja will appear in the narrative. The director also revealed that characters including Garudarama, Vishnu, and others play important roles, hinting at the reasons behind their inclusion.
The story unfolds within a dream-like setting, with a 60-day deadline forming a key narrative element. The promo took six months to complete and involved six to seven VFX teams. The film will be shot over 60 to 65 days and will feature five to six songs.
Director Kevin Luke has been associated with the cinema industry for the past 12 years. After graduating in BBM, he worked on short films, attended workshops, and participated in film shoots to gain practical experience. He focuses on two aspects closely related to daily life, while clearly aiming to connect with Gen Z audiences. Out of six story ideas, the producer selected this subject for its unique presentation. Despite the promo’s estimated cost of ₹45 lakhs, Kevin managed to complete it with global freelance VFX support for just ₹5 lakhs.
For the first time, KGF fame Garuda Ram has danced in a film promo and has assured continued support to the project. The team also received backing from KVN Production House.
This film marks the debut Kannada production of Alagan Movies, headed by Alagani Kiran Kumar, who transitioned into filmmaking from real estate ventures. Though he once aspired to become a hero, that dream has now shifted to his brother Sanjay, who plays the lead role. Sanjay, hailing from Mandya, portrays a college-going, fun-loving character in the film.
Cinematographer Raj Kanth explained that while the shoot took just four days, it required six months of visual enhancement in post-production. Lighting played a crucial role in the film, with Nithin assisting in achieving the desired effect.
Editor Shashidhar promised that the film would transport audiences into a new world. He mentioned that a serious issue is presented in a light-hearted and jovial manner, and the final version was achieved after 14 edits.
The BTS (Bangtan Boys, Beyond the scene etc) team Lavanya in the writing team assures it would appeal all age group. She is a co writer and associate director of this film. She also introduced the BTS music band at the media briefing.
