The film “Shri Jagannmate Akkamahadevi”, produced under the banner of Bharat Cine Creations, has been viewed by the Censor Board and has received a clean ‘U’ certificate without any objections to its scenes. In the past quite a few Kannada films referred to the ‘Akka Mahadevi’ life sketch.
Senior technician Vishnukanth B.J., who has earlier directed films such as Manasugala Maathu Madhura, Dr. Ambedkar, Ganga Kaveri, and Kalyana Kuvara, has taken on the roles of producer, director, and actor in an important character for this film.
The movie attempts to portray the story of Akkamahadevi from about 900 years ago. Using 21 vachanas (poetic verses) written by Sri Basavanna and Akkamahadevi, the director has penned the lyrics for three songs in the film.
Music director R. Palani D Senapathi has conducted the recording with live musical instruments, which is a special highlight. The cast includes Sulaksha Kaira, Bhavya, Shweta, Biradar, Mysore Helen, Pallakki Radhakrishna, Tabla Nani, Suchendra Prasad, M. Patil, and others.
Cinematography is by Ravisuvarna, choreography by Madan Harini, and editing by Amit Javalakar. The film was shot across Gulbarga, Bidar, Srisailam, and forested hill regions with lakes and waterfalls.
The film is planned for release on January 2nd, the second day of the New Year, across Karnataka, and also in Maharashtra, including Solapur, where there is strong demand, says Vishnukanth B.J.
