The Innovation in Rare Earths and Lithium (IRLi 2025) Summit, hosted by CMA India, kicked off today at The Capitol Hotel in Bengaluru. The event gathers policymakers, global experts, scientists, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss India’s role in the rapidly expanding critical minerals and clean energy sectors.

The two-day summit, themed Innovation for a Sustainable Future, aims to drive progress in Rare Earth Elements (REE) and Lithium, which are essential for clean technologies, energy storage, and future manufacturing. The event’s focus aligns with India’s increasing leadership in these crucial industries.
India’s roadmap for self-reliance in critical minerals
The opening session on October 9 featured representatives from the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, who underscored the country’s commitment to sustainable mining practices and creating value from critical minerals. On October 10, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Minister of New and Renewable Energy, will address attendees, emphasizing India’s roadmap for self-reliance in critical minerals and renewable energy.
According to a senior Ministry official, “India’s critical minerals strategy is essential for its energy transition, and IRLi offers a crucial platform to align policy and industry toward a secure, sustainable future.”
Dr. Deependra Singh, former CMD of IREL (India) Limited, delivered the keynote, stressing the need for India to take the lead in rare earth processing and lithium extraction. He highlighted that innovation will be key to the country’s future competitiveness.
