Director Venkat Bharadwaj’s Kannada film Hey Prabhu is scheduled to release on November 7 across Karnataka and overseas. The film is presented by Dr. Sudhakar Shetty and jointly produced by Amrutha Film Center and 24 Reels. The film includes entertainment along with a social message.
Venkat Bharadwaj, known for portraying socially relevant subjects in a popularly understandable format, brings Hey Prabhu to theatres with a storyline combining humour, satire and a societal theme. The film addresses issues related to India’s pharmaceutical and medical sectors, including the influence of drug company lobbies, sale of counterfeit medicines and corporate profit motives, and depicts their impact on public health through humour, emotion and realistic characters.
Following recent concerns surrounding children’s cough syrup incidents in India, the film focuses on public awareness and responsible citizenship. The plot revolves around a protagonist who becomes aware of internal realities within the medical system while facing personal and ethical dilemmas. The narrative includes humour, sharp dialogues and emotional elements.

Venkat Bharadwaj, known for films such as Bablusha, Kempe Rve, The Painter and Naguvina Hoovina Mele, has once again taken up a socially relevant subject through commercial storytelling. Speaking about the film, the director said that Hey Prabhu aims to raise questions in the minds of citizens about the products they use and the systems that control them, conveying the message through humour, satire and emotional narration.
The film’s first single “Eddeelo Eega” was released on Tips Kannada and has gained visibility among youth and social media audiences. The promotional campaign highlights civic awareness, ethical responsibility and message-driven entertainment. The film has already been acquired by Air India Engineering Services Limited (Government aircraft), as stated by the team.
