Zee Music released the highly anticipated song from the film “Koragajja,” produced under the banners of Trivikrama Cinemas and Success Films — a song about the coastal region’s fierce, terrifying, blood-thirsty deity “Guliga.” This rap-mixed song “Guliga… Guliga… Guliga… Guliga… Guliga… Ghora Guliga…!” has been penned by the much-loved lyricist-director Sudheer Attavar, known for the hit song “Marali Mareyaagi…”
To the music of South India’s renowned composer Gopi Sundar, famous Bollywood singer Javed Ali has sung along with Sudheer Attavar. In some parts, Gopi Sundar too has contributed his voice.
According to folklore, “Guliga,” born as the 24th son of Neluvulla Sankeya, was born with such terrifying hunger that even after drinking the blood of a thousand hens and a thousand horses, his hunger wouldn’t subside — finally, he drank all the blood from the little finger of Lord Shrimannarayana… such is the folk tale about Guliga’s origin.
This dreadful deity’s ritual “Kola Seve” is performed in a fearsome manner throughout Tulu Nadu. Many people, unable to watch the terrifying blood-drinking fierce dance of Guliga Daiva, close their eyes out of fear. The scene of Guliga running everywhere in blood-lust, and people struggling to capture him, is spine-chilling.
The scene where the fierce Guliga Daiva, along with Panjurli, meets “Koragajja” will be shown in the film.
The war-like, terrifying dance of the Guliga deity has been performed by Hollywood-Bollywood dancer-choreographer Sandeep Soparrkar, and he himself has choreographed the Rudra Dance of Guliga. Sardar Satya has acted as Panjurli.
While filming this scene at Someshwara beach in Mangalore with the help of two 100-feet cranes and five cameras, a gang of rowdies attacked the team for two consecutive days, causing huge losses to the production.
On the second day, producer Trivikrama hired nearly 25 bouncers. But just a few minutes after the shoot began, a threatening call caused even the bouncers to flee, and the local Mangalore bouncers abandoned their duties.
Although executive producer Vidyadhar Shetty repeatedly tried to pacify the rowdies, the goons did not listen and halted the shoot, creating chaos. But producer Trivikrama Sapalya did not lose courage — under police protection, for the third time, he successfully completed the shoot of the Guliga song at the same Someshwara beach.
Today, this song is entering the ears and hearts of listeners and viewers…!!
