The new Kannada film GST (Ghosts in Trouble) held its trailer launch and preview of the song “Chameli” (releasing November 14) in a glittering event on Monday night. The highlight of the evening was Talking Star Srujan Lokesh, who impressed audiences with his multifaceted involvement in the project. The film marks his directorial debut, while Sandesh Nagaraj produces this horror-comedy family entertainer.
Superstar Upendra released the film’s trailer, and his wife Priyanka Upendra unveiled the song “Chameli” before a packed audience.
Popular actor and producer Srujan Lokesh now dons the director’s hat with GST, produced by Sandesh N under the renowned Sandesh Productions banner and presented by veteran producer Sandesh Nagaraj. The film is set to release on November 28.
Ahead of the release, the GST trailer was launched by Real Star Upendra in his trademark energetic style, while Priyanka Upendra released the promo for the “Chameli” song. The event saw the presence of Upendra, Priyanka, and actress Tara Anuradha as chief guests, who all extended their best wishes to the GST team.
“GST stands for Ghost in Trouble, but we like to call it Go See in Theatre!” said Srujan Lokesh. “This film is a dream I had, brought to life by producer Sandesh. Through GST, I’m making my directorial debut. There’s also a sentimental connection — my grandfather Subbiah Naidu introduced my father Lokesh to cinema as a child actor in Bhakta Prahlada. Later, I entered films as a child artist under my father’s direction in Bujangayya’s Dashavatara. Now, my son Sukruth is making his silver screen debut in my first directorial venture. This may be the first time in Indian cinema that three generations — my mother Girija Lokesh, myself, and my son Sukruth — have acted together in one film.”
“Although GST is a horror film, humor is its main essence. I don’t want to deliver any heavy messages — I simply want to win people’s hearts through laughter,” he continued. “We’ve also launched a music label called Lokesh Music, through which the film’s songs will be released. The movie features an unpredictable 40-minute climax, with the contribution of talented artists and technicians. With everyone’s hard work, we’re ready to bring GST to audiences on November 28. I thank Upendra and Priyanka for launching our trailer.
“A special moment for me was receiving a personally signed bat from Sachin Tendulkar, wishing success for my first directorial film. I request everyone to support GST — watch it during the first two weeks so it can reach audiences across the state,” said Srujan Lokesh.
Producer Sandesh Nagaraj said, “I haven’t heard the story of this film — Srujan is a close friend, and I trust that he has made something wonderful. This marks the 34th production from our company. As always, I seek your continued support for this project.”
Veteran actress Girija Lokesh added, “It’s a matter of pride that many firsts in Kannada cinema have come from Subbiah Naidu’s family. For the first time, my son Srujan Lokesh has directed a movie. My grandson Sukruth and I have acted in it as well. I hope the same love and encouragement our family has received over the years continues with GST.”
Senior actor Ashok also shared his experience working on the film, while lead actress Rajani Bharadwaj spoke about her role and the fun-filled shooting process.
The event was attended by the film’s cast and crew, with Srujan Lokesh’s son Sukruth adding a special touch as the host of the evening.
National award-winning director P. Seshadri, music director V. Manohar, and politicians Puttanna and Sampangi graced the event to bless the GST team.
