Former Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao praises Alok Kumar’s appointment as DG Prisons & Correctional Services, calling him the right choice to reform the state’s troubled jail system.
Karnataka’s newly appointed Director General of Police, Alok Kumar, who now heads the Prisons and Correctional Services Department, has received notable praise from former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, who publicly described him as the only officer capable of truly reforming the state’s jail system.
Bhaskar Rao, reacting to the appointment, said that Alok Kumar has the capability to clean and overhaul the entire prison network, including the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, which has faced repeated controversies over mismanagement and irregularities. He stated that the long-pending need for transparency and discipline inside jails can be achieved only under Alok Kumar’s leadership.
